Key words in this video
Right now there's an incident causing such an uproar that people say software is finished.
It's that a tool called Reverse Engineer Anything, which lets you recreate any software you want exactly as it is, has been released as open source.
It's all uploaded on GitHub so anyone can use it.
There are quite a few demos out there right now that tear apart apps with this tool.
For example, one developer took apart an Apple first-generation remote in 45 minutes and made it usable on Linux.
There was even a developer who used AI to build apps replacing seven Adobe programs, like Photoshop and Premiere Pro, and released them all as open source.
And this tool has already passed 150,000 stars on GitHub.
Judging by people's reactions, Reverse Engineer Anything means software is finished.
Even Replit's CEO says this is insane.
Reactions like "almost all software will soon become open source" and "Oh God, help us" are coming out.
So you can go to that GitHub page and use Reverse Engineer Anything right away too.
I've also been trying to reverse engineer various things with this tool,
but there's a fact many people are missing, so I'd like to tell you about it in this video.
So today I'll rebuild Windows Paint myself to show how it actually works, and whether software is really finished,
and also what it means for software development going forward, we'll take a look at together.
Okay, first, let's look at what REA is: Reverse Engineer Anything literally means it reverse engineers anything for you.
It tears apart an already-built app and analyzes how its features work inside.
You can understand it as an MCP that hands the agent instructions to recreate that exactly.
If I show you this diagram first, we are at the far left.
When there's some app, you're curious how that feature works and how to design it, because you want to make something similar yourself.
So you give an AI agent like Claude Code the input: look at how that app's features work and build the same thing.
Then the agent uses the Reverse Engineer Anything MCP.
This MCP has several structures inside, and it assigns work to analysis tools like Ghidra, Cooper and IDA.
And below this there's a Chrome browser.
For example, for a website or an Electron app, it has an overall structure that lets it look into the screen structure and even the network through the Chrome browser.
Okay, and once the analysis is finished like this, it first creates pseudocode.
Pseudocode is not so much detailed code as something written down so a person can understand what actions are operating.
Then it organizes the reasons why those actions happen and, lastly, the parts it doesn't know, and returns the results to the agent.
Okay, then the agent receives this, tries writing the code, tries testing it, and asks again, and this loop keeps repeating.
Until when is it repeated?
Repeating until every single feature you want has been built is exactly what Reverse Engineer Anything does.
Now, the interesting thing is that I said the Reverse Engineer Anything MCP has several structures.
The tools included here are not all new tools.
This Ghidra in particular has a rather unusual origin.
It was, believe it or not, a tool from a US Department of Defense intelligence agency.
In Ghidra's case, there's actually a GitHub page.
So if you go in and check the profile picture, and I zoom in a bit to show you,
see, there's the logo of the National Security Agency.
So this tool called Ghidra was actually made directly by the NSA.
A tool that NSA researchers had used only internally for nearly twenty years first became publicly known in 2017 through a WikiLeaks exposé.
And then in 2019 they went and released it completely free as open source.
In short, you can understand that the tool you use when taking an app apart was originally one used by US intelligence.
And looking at another tool, if I show it on a timeline, IDA has been around since the 1990s.
Cooper was released in 2012, so it's a tool that's already more than ten years old.
So this technology isn't new.
Instead, it connects the existing analysis tools into one so that an agent can use them easily.
Now, you may have this question.
AI reverse-engineering MCPs actually already existed.
That is, attaching reverse-engineering tools like this to an AI isn't a first,
and even with existing tools, you could analyze obfuscated apps fairly deeply.
So how different a result can you get just by gathering existing tools into one? Here's what I think.
Reverse Engineer Anything
Reverse Engineer Anything is aimed less at experts and more at ordinary vibe coders,
and whereas you originally had to learn separately, from installation to usage, even to use a single analysis tool like this,
now you just type one line to the agent, like 'look at how this app's features work,' and we can do basic analysis.
So, rather than making a production-level app, when making an app that an individual can use alone,
I think it might be possible to check the flow of other tools that are already well built and bring it over to fit my app.
I'll start by showing how to install it; please go to the Reverse Engineer Anything GitHub.
If you scroll down, there's an installation command.
So you can copy the command here and install it in your terminal on the system itself, or there's the GitHub link.
You can also copy this GitHub link as is, go to your agent and tell it to install, and the installation will proceed.
To show it simply, I'll try it using Claude.
Now, please open Claude.
Okay, after pasting the GitHub link just now, you enter it along with a prompt saying 'set this repo up for Claude Code.'
Then it installs everything on its own, in my place.
By the way, you'll probably remember the mod I showed in the last video; my computer's C drive got wiped and my setup was all gone.
This is the first video I'm filming after formatting, so I'll share the mod I was building as I redesign this system.
And if you go to GitHub, it lists what you can analyze.
Starting with native binaries, it says it can analyze all kinds of targets I don't even know about.
I'll leave this link in the pinned comment and the 'show more' section, so I think it'll be fun if you follow along with my video.
Okay, once the installation is complete, it's time to actually make something.
I'll try reverse engineering Paint, which comes installed on Windows by default.
Well, rather than just making an identical copy, I'm going to add one more feature that the original Paint doesn't have.
Next to this Paint, I'll build a panel where the images I paste here pile up in a list as assets.
Okay, so I reverse-engineered Windows Paint and had it make a new, simple Paint,
and as an added feature I told it to put in the ability to save images I paste into the right-hand panel as an asset list.
Let's wait and see.
And while we wait, let's look together at what apps other people have built with reverse engineering; there are quite a lot of fun ones.
Here, a user called Zhulian used reverse engineering to build an app that controls an air conditioner by hand.
He probably analyzed the software and firmware inside this air conditioner.
And after that, it seems he built an app that can work through code.
This is impressive too.
It means it can affect not just software but also objects in the real world.
And I can also show you the open-sourcing of the various Adobe apps I showed earlier.
Of course, in a case like this, you need to be careful, because carelessly analyzing and copying a commercially sold app is illegal.
I think it would be good for you to understand that point.
But they say all of these apps were newly rebuilt in Rust.
Since the code isn't duplicated, it seems to be a gray area.
Because the code itself was written entirely from scratch, we have to decide whether to see it as legal or
as something that took assets from the existing software; that's a bit ambiguous, honestly.
And it's also news that will drive gamers wild: by reverse engineering and analyzing how existing apps run, it combines several games together.
For example, this one is set up so that you enter Elden Ring and play Super Mario.
This one is a combination of Minecraft and Sybe.
To this extent, many things are being made as results of reverse engineering.
And it's not just installed apps, there are websites too.
Here, they say they reverse engineered a website called TradingView.
I wonder whether that is really that useful, but anyway I think it's good for you all to know that this kind of thing is possible.
When I came back to check how far it had gotten, it said the analysis was finished.
Okay, so the result has been made.
Now we should test it.
First I'll turn off the mouse cursor and test it, and it is drawing nicely like this.
Color changes like this are also implemented properly.
And a tooltip also appears properly for each icon.
If I use fill and do a fill, it fills as well.
Of course, the cursor changing to a fill indicator isn't there yet, but that's a part I can improve myself.
First of all, overall it runs well.
I'll erase all of this again and check whether the feature I added also works, whether the asset comes out when pasting into Paint.
Okay, so I'll copy the character I made in Higgsfield like this, a screenshot.
I'll come back to Paint and paste it.
I pasted it.
I'll adjust the size a bit.
Okay, then the asset has gone in on the left side.
And my pasted picture goes in on the right side exactly as it is.
So you can change the name, and copy it again and paste it like this.
And downloading is possible, and deleting from the asset list is possible too.
If you paste again, you can check that it gets created again.
I made this feature in a pretty short time.
When you come back to Claude Code and check, you can see that in about eleven minutes it analyzed Paint and added the features I wanted.
Of course, it's true that it took little time because Paint itself is a relatively simple app,
but even so, it's very significant that it instantly made the features I wanted and reverse engineered Paint as it was.
Of course, an app recreated like this is fine if you use it only for personal study like me,
but when analyzing an app that already has a registered license, you must obey the software-related laws.
So today, having tried Aria myself, I can see why its GitHub stars exploded in such a short time.
Of course, it's true that no practical demo has been uploaded yet.
It was actually used most for games, and
since reverse engineering existing software borders on illegal, it's true that there's no demo.
But in a way, I think that reverse engineering becoming widely accessible might also contribute to the popularization of software.
So when should you use reverse engineering?
First, when adding a feature I want to an app I was already using, like the Paint and photo list features I just showed you.
At that point, I think it'll be the most meaningful, and...
On the flip side, if you use it to wholesale copy someone else's app or churn out identical apps, you'll inevitably end up with an illegal knockoff app.
Anyway, there is a direction for software that this Aria shows.
This means most software will effectively become like open source.
That's because existing models have gotten so good that anyone can build a front end or back end,
and startup apps are actually all being absorbed by Codex and Claude right now.
And looking at it overall, the barrier to mixing together existing ideas has dropped sharply.
So I think it's become a great era for vibe coders, and...
That's why I always say this in my vibe coding videos.
If you just have ideas, so many existing features are already well open-sourced that you can combine them and build your own app.
But on the other hand, companies may now feel a bit uneasy about putting core logic or offline features into their apps.
Since reverse engineering is getting easier, they'll probably serve such features from a server rather than embed them in the app.
There may be cost issues, but that's the company's problem, so I won't think about that far.
Going forward, I also think this might be better news for cloud and memory companies.
And actually, even without something like Reverse Engineer Anything or MCP, reverse engineering is possible.
Many of you have probably, when vibe coding, asked an agent to figure out how some feature works,
taken screenshots, inferred from them, copied it and built something plausible, and so you've likely experienced this.
Of course, if you have the tool, I'd like to wrap up today's video by saying you can build a more polished app while analyzing even the inside of the files in detail.
And I'd also like to share my personal opinion that a feature like this analysis might become a basic agent feature within a month or two.
So today we looked at how Anything, the hottest reverse-engineering tool these days, works, and we tried making a Paint app together.
Of course, I think it's still too early to say that software is finished.
Even so, it seems quite encouraging that an ordinary person who doesn't know coding can pick apart an existing app and add the features they want.
But if you just say 'do it all for me from start to finish' with no knowledge at all, it won't work, and saying you're using AI that way could be a bit embarrassing.
You need at least enough skill to read, understand, analyze and review what the AI produced in order to get higher-quality results,
so I think it would be good if you also watched today's video, did some vibe coding, and studied by reading the results that come out.
I'm also making a mod related to that, so I'll release it as soon as it's made.

I've also been trying to reverse engineer various things with this tool,
많은 분들이 놓치고 있는 사실이 있어서 그거를 좀 영상에서 말씀드리려고 합니다.but there's a fact many people are missing, so I'd like to tell you about it in this video.
So today I'll rebuild Windows Paint myself to show how it actually works, and whether software is really finished,
그리고 앞으로 소프트웨어 개발에 어떤 의미인지 같이 한번 쭉 살펴보도록 하겠습니다.and also what it means for software development going forward, we'll take a look at together.
So if you go in and check the profile picture, and I zoom in a bit to show you,
자, 국가안보국 로고가 있죠.see, there's the logo of the National Security Agency.
That is, attaching reverse-engineering tools like this to an AI isn't a first,
심지어 기존 툴로도 난독화된 앱을 꽤 깊게 분석을 할 수가 있었습니다.and even with existing tools, you could analyze obfuscated apps fairly deeply.
So how different a result can you get just by gathering existing tools into one? Here's what I think.
Reverse Engineer Anything is aimed less at experts and more at ordinary vibe coders,
원래는 이런 분석 툴 하나를 쓰려고 해도 설치부터 사용법까지 따로 배워야 됐는데and whereas you originally had to learn separately, from installation to usage, even to use a single analysis tool like this,
이제는 에이전트한테 이 앱 기능 어떻게 돌아가는지 봐줘라고 한 줄만 입력하면 저희가 기본적인 분석을 할 수가 있는 거죠.now you just type one line to the agent, like 'look at how this app's features work,' and we can do basic analysis.
Okay, so I reverse-engineered Windows Paint and had it make a new, simple Paint,
추가 기능으로 우측 패널에 내가 붙여넣기 하는 그림들이 에셋으로 리스트로 저장되는 기능을 넣어줘라고 했고요.and as an added feature I told it to put in the ability to save images I paste into the right-hand panel as an asset list.
Because the code itself was written entirely from scratch, we have to decide whether to see it as legal or
그건 좀 애매한 것 같습니다, 사실.as something that took assets from the existing software; that's a bit ambiguous, honestly.
Of course, it's true that it took little time because Paint itself is a relatively simple app,
그럼에도 불구하고 내가 원하는 기능을 바로바로 만들어주고 그림판을 그대로 리버스 엔지니어링을 해줬다는 점은 대단히 의미가 있죠.but even so, it's very significant that it instantly made the features I wanted and reverse engineered Paint as it was.
Of course, an app recreated like this is fine if you use it only for personal study like me,
아니면 이미 라이센스가 등록이 되어 있는 그런 앱을 분석을 할 때 소프트웨어 관련된 법은 여러분이 꼭 지키셔야 됩니다.but when analyzing an app that already has a registered license, you must obey the software-related laws.
So today, having tried Aria myself, I can see why its GitHub stars exploded in such a short time.
Of course, it's true that no practical demo has been uploaded yet.
It was actually used most for games, and
아무래도 기존 소프트웨어를 리버스 엔지니어링 하는 건 불법에 가깝기 때문에 데모가 없는 것도 맞는 사실인데,since reverse engineering existing software borders on illegal, it's true that there's no demo.
That's because existing models have gotten so good that anyone can build a front end or back end,
스타트업 앱들도 사실 코덱스, 클로드가 다 흡수하고 있죠, 지금.and startup apps are actually all being absorbed by Codex and Claude right now.
Many of you have probably, when vibe coding, asked an agent to figure out how some feature works,
스크린샷 찍고 나서 추론하면서 따라 만들고 그럴듯하게 만드신 것을 경험해 봤을 겁니다.taken screenshots, inferred from them, copied it and built something plausible, and so you've likely experienced this.
You need at least enough skill to read, understand, analyze and review what the AI produced in order to get higher-quality results,
여러분도 오늘 영상 보시고 바이브 코딩을 하시면서 나오는 결과물을 한번 읽어보시면서 공부를 해보시면 좋을 것 같습니다.so I think it would be good if you also watched today's video, did some vibe coding, and studied by reading the results that come out.
I'm also making a mod related to that, so I'll release it as soon as it's made.
That's all for today's video.
