I am Maria, and today we are going to be talking about spring.Soy María, y hoy vamos a hablar de la primavera.

Spring is one of my favorite seasons.La primavera es una de mis estaciones favoritas.

The first day of spring was just the other day, and I feel really happy about it.El primer día de primavera fue hace pocos días, y me siento muy feliz por ello.

Every year at the beginning of spring, I love to buy fresh flowers.Cada año, al comienzo de la primavera, me encanta comprar flores frescas.

So the other day, I bought purple and white tulips.Así que el otro día compré tulipanes morados y blancos.

I put them on my dining table, and they really look so beautiful.Los puse en la mesa del comedor, y se ven tan hermosos.

Having fresh flowers in the house, especially after winter, really makes me realize that spring is here.Tener flores frescas en casa, sobre todo después del invierno, me hace darme cuenta de que la primavera está aquí.

Flowers make my home feel fresh and bright.Las flores hacen que mi hogar se sienta fresco y luminoso.

Spring is a season of change.La primavera es una estación de cambio.

It comes after winter, which is usually cold and dark.Llega después del invierno, que normalmente es frío y oscuro.

Spring slowly prepares us for the summer, which is warm and bright.La primavera nos prepara poco a poco para el verano, que es cálido y luminoso.

One of the first things that I notice about spring is the light.Una de las primeras cosas que noto de la primavera es la luz.

The days start to become longer, and the mornings are much brighter.Los días empiezan a hacerse más largos, y las mañanas son mucho más luminosas.

In the winter when I wake up, it's still dark outside.En invierno, cuando me despierto, todavía está oscuro afuera.

Another sign of spring is the birds.Otra señal de la primavera son los pájaros.

In the winter, I don't usually hear many birds.En invierno, normalmente no oigo muchos pájaros.

But in the spring, I start to hear them chirping again.Pero en primavera, empiezo a oírlos piar otra vez.

A few weeks ago, I started to hear the birds for the first time chirping outside my window.Hace unas semanas, oí a los pájaros piar fuera de mi ventana por primera vez.

This sound of the birds really made me happy.Este sonido de los pájaros me hizo muy feliz.

I thought, "Wow, I haven't heard the birds in a long time."Pensé: «¡Guau, hacía mucho tiempo que no oía a los pájaros!»

I feel like the birds are like friendsSiento que los pájaros son como amigos

that leave during the winter because they don't like the cold and come back when it's nice outside.que se van durante el invierno porque no les gusta el frío, y vuelven cuando hace buen tiempo afuera.

In spring, everything starts to look greener.En primavera, todo empieza a verse más verde.

Flowers begin to bloom, trees grow new leaves, and the air feels fresh and clean.Las flores empiezan a florecer, los árboles echan hojas nuevas y el aire se siente fresco y limpio.

When I go for a walk, I love smelling the fresh flowers and also the fresh spring air.Cuando salgo a pasear, me encanta oler las flores frescas y también el aire fresco de primavera.

I also enjoy listening to the sound of the bees when I go on a walk.También disfruto escuchando el sonido de las abejas cuando salgo a caminar.

They are always buzzing around all of the flowers, and it always just feels so fresh whenever I see them.Siempre están zumbando alrededor de todas las flores, y siempre se siente tan fresco cada vez que las veo.

In the spring, the evenings also become lighter.En primavera, las tardes también se vuelven más luminosas.

Where I live, I see a lot more people on the streets in the evenings.Donde yo vivo, veo mucha más gente en las calles por las tardes.

People are going on walks, going to parks, and eating at restaurants outside.La gente sale a pasear, va a los parques y come afuera en los restaurantes.

It just seems like there is so much more life outside in the spring, especially in the evenings.Parece que hay mucha más vida afuera en primavera, sobre todo por las tardes.

During the winter, people usually stay inside more.Durante el invierno, la gente normalmente se queda más en casa.

It's more cozy to be in your warm house reading a book, cooking, or spending time with family and friends.Es más acogedor estar en tu casa calentita leyendo un libro, cocinando o pasando tiempo con la familia y los amigos.

Spring is more of a time to be spent outside when the weather is nice.La primavera es más una época para pasarla afuera cuando hace buen tiempo.

Clothing also changes during the spring.La ropa también cambia durante la primavera.

People usually stop wearing those heavy coats and sweaters.La gente normalmente deja de usar esos abrigos y suéteres pesados.

Instead, they wear lighter clothes like lighter long-sleeved shirts, jackets, and even T-shirts on warmer days.En cambio, usan ropa más ligera, como camisas de manga larga más finas, chaquetas e incluso camisetas en los días más cálidos.

Sometimes in the spring, the weather can be unpredictableA veces, en primavera, el clima puede ser impredecible.

Some days can be very hot,Algunos días pueden ser muy calurosos,

and other days can be pretty cold, andotros días pueden ser bastante fríos,

some days are a mix of the two.y algunos días son una mezcla de los dos.

That is why many times in the spring it's good to wear layers.Por eso, muchas veces en primavera es bueno vestirse en capas.

For example, maybe you wear a T-shirt with a jacket,Por ejemplo, quizás usas una camiseta con una chaqueta,

so then if it's cold, you wear your jacket, andasí que si hace frío, te pones la chaqueta,

if it gets hot, you take it off and simply wear your T-shirt.y si hace calor, te la quitas y simplemente usas tu camiseta.

That way you are always prepared.De esa manera siempre estás preparado.

Where I live in Spain, some days in spring can be very warm and sunny,Donde yo vivo, en España, algunos días de primavera pueden ser muy cálidos y soleados,

and other days are a bit cooler and rainy.y otros días son un poco más frescos y lluviosos.

There is an expression in Spanish which is,Hay una expresión en español que dice:

"En abril, aguas mil,""En abril, aguas mil",

which means, "In April, there is 1,000 waters,"que significa: "En abril hay mil aguas",

which basically means it rains a lot in April.o sea, básicamente, que llueve mucho en abril.

Food habits can also change in the spring.Los hábitos alimenticios también pueden cambiar en primavera.

In the winter, people eat heavier meals like soups and stews and warm, more filling meals,En invierno, la gente come comidas más pesadas, como sopas, guisos y platos calientes más contundentes,

and in the spring, people start eating lighter.y en primavera la gente empieza a comer más ligero.

They start eating more salads, fresh vegetables, and fresh fruit.Empiezan a comer más ensaladas, verduras frescas y fruta fresca.

When I think of food in the spring, I always think of berries.Cuando pienso en la comida de primavera, siempre pienso en las bayas.

I personally love to eat lots of berries in the spring, especially strawberries.Personalmente me encanta comer muchas bayas en primavera, sobre todo fresas.

Just the other week I made a strawberry cake, and it was delicious.Justo hace una semana hice una tarta de fresa y estaba deliciosa.

Another special thing about spring is the feeling of a new beginning.Otra cosa especial de la primavera es la sensación de un nuevo comienzo.

Nature is starting again.La naturaleza vuelve a empezar.

Flowers are blooming, trees are getting greener, and this motivates some people to start new things.Las flores florecen, los árboles se ponen más verdes, y esto motiva a algunas personas a empezar cosas nuevas.

Some people make new plans, set new goals, and put a bigger focus on their health.Algunas personas hacen nuevos planes, se fijan nuevas metas y dan más importancia a su salud.

There is also the idea of spring cleaning.También existe la idea de la limpieza de primavera.

That means cleaning and organizing your home.Eso significa limpiar y ordenar tu casa.

Many people take this time to throw away old things and create a new, fresh living space.Mucha gente aprovecha esta época para tirar cosas viejas y crear un espacio nuevo y fresco para vivir.

Of course, not everyone loves the spring.Por supuesto, no a todo el mundo le encanta la primavera.

One part about the spring that can be quite complicated are allergies.Una cosa de la primavera que puede ser bastante complicada son las alergias.

Many people have lots of allergies in the spring when everything is blooming outside.Mucha gente tiene muchas alergias en primavera, cuando todo está floreciendo afuera.

I used to have terrible allergies in the spring.Yo solía tener alergias terribles en primavera.

My eyes would get red, I would sneeze a lot, and I was always very uncomfortable.Se me ponían los ojos rojos, estornudaba mucho y siempre estaba muy incómoda.

For some reason, I don't have allergies anymore in the spring, and I feel much better.Por alguna razón, ya no tengo alergias en primavera y me siento mucho mejor.

I'm very glad that I don't have them anymore because it was always very uncomfortable.Me alegra mucho no tenerlas ya, porque siempre era muy incómodo.
