Hi! My name is Sergey.
Welcome to my channel "Russian from Afar".
And today I'll tell you a story.
This story is called "Baba Yaga".
Once upon a time there lived a man, and he had a daughter and a wife.
But the wife, unfortunately, died. So.
Then the man found himself a new wife.
This wife did not love the man's daughter. She was a stepmother.
The stepmother did not love the man's daughter, and she always beat her.
She scolded her: "You're a fool, stupid girl!" Blah-blah-blah. She scolded her, right?
And she always wanted the daughter to leave.
And then one day the man went far away for work, and only the girl, the daughter, and the stepmother were left at home.
Then the stepmother says: "Hey, go to my sister and get a needle and thread to sew you a shirt."
Right? A needle and thread, to sew a shirt.
But the girl knows that the stepmother's sister is Baba Yaga.
The girl is afraid, but she can't say no.
So she went to Baba Yaga.
But before she went to Baba Yaga, she first stopped by her own aunt, her father's sister.
And she says: "Hello, auntie!"
And the aunt says: "Hello, dear! What's the matter with you? How are you?"
And she says: "My stepmother sent me to go to Baba Yaga to pick up thread and a needle to sew myself a shirt."
The aunt says:
"Everything is fine.
Take a piece of bread and a piece of meat.
When the dogs start to bite you, give them the bread.
When the cat starts to scratch you, give it the meat."
She thanked her aunt and went into the forest to Baba Yaga.
She walks and walks through the forest for a long time, and suddenly she sees a hut standing in the forest on chicken legs.
And Baba Yaga lives in this hut.
She goes in and says: "Hello, auntie!"
Baba Yaga looks at her and says:
"Hello! What do you want?"
And the girl says:
"My aunt sent me to you so that I could take a needle and thread to sew myself a shirt."
She says: "All right, all right. In the meantime, weave the linen."
Yes, this is linen cloth.
And to weave means to make cloth, yes, to make fabric, this fabric.
And so she, this cloth, she weaves it.
And she says: "Good, you weave the linen in the meantime, and I'll go have a sleep."
But when she left the house, Baba Yaga had a worker,
and Baba Yaga says to the worker:
"Hey, go heat the bathhouse and wash this girl well,
because when I wake up, I will eat her."
And the girl heard this, and she went completely stiff with fear.
She doesn't know what to do, right?
She is very, very scared.

When Baba Yaga left, the girl went up to the worker and says:
"My dear, don't heat the bathhouse, you'd better pour water in there."
And the girl gave this worker a little scarf, okay? A little scarf.
And the worker was happy, okay? And she said nothing.
She didn't heat the bathhouse.
Baba Yaga woke up, comes to the window and asks:
"Are you weaving, niece? Are you weaving, dear?"
"I'm weaving, auntie, I'm weaving."
Baba Yaga went back to sleep, and the girl gives meat to the cat and asks him:
"Kitty-brother, please tell me, how can I run away from here?" Yes, run away.
And the cat says: "Over there on the table lie a comb and a towel.
Take them, and when Baba Yaga is chasing you, listen to the ground, okay? The ground. Listen to the ground.
If you hear the ground trembling, then take the comb and throw it over your right shoulder,
and then a big, dense forest will grow, and Baba Yaga won't catch you.
And the towel, throw it over your left shoulder, and a big, beautiful river will spill out.
And Baba Yaga won't cross this river."
"Thank you, kitty brother," says the girl.
And she went out into the street.
There were dogs in the street, and the dogs wanted to bite her, right?
But the girl gave them some bread, and they left her alone.
Meanwhile, the cat sat down at the loom cloth and began to weave it, right?
But he doesn't know how to weave.
He tangled everything.
